St. Mark's Day School
Welcome Our New Director
Read this note from our new director, Maggie Sanford.
I feel so privileged to be the new director of St. Mark's Day School in Barrington Hills. I was born and raised in Barrington and went to District 220 Schools. After graduating from Barrington High School in 2007, I attended the University of Illinois and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education in 2011. At that time I decided I still wanted to know more about how young children learn, and I stayed in Champaign-Urbana for an additional year. I earned my Master's Degree in Early Childhood Special Education in 2012.
I have spent the last five years teaching early learners. My first job was teaching third graders in Rockford at a charter school. I was a nanny and provided academic support to a soon to be Kindergartener. The Da Vinci Academy, a private school for gifted learners, has been my home for the last three years. I spent the first two years working in Pre-Kindergarten and am finishing up a wonderful year in first grade. Sadly, the school is in its last year and I have been in search of my new "home." I am so excited to be joining such a wonderful and caring staff and look forward to learning and growing with all of your fabulous early learners!
My husband and I have a 13 month old son, Bruce. We have enjoyed watching him learn and grow this past year- in what seems to have been a blink of an eye! We currently live in Palatine with our tiny but fierce dachshund, Tilly. We love living near our families and spending lots of time with them. I am so looking forward to joining the St. Mark's community this June!
