Staff & Leadership

  • Karen Morse

    Director

Karen is a highly experienced leader in early childhood education. As Head of School in both Illinois and California, she developed educational policy and programs that advanced her schools. Karen comes to us from working most recently as the Dean of Students at Berkeley Hall School in Los Angeles, CA where she developed social emotional learning standards and performance assessments for students in preschool through grade 8. She established and refined educational policy and procedures in their early childhood program and throughout the school. Karen has demonstrated her commitment to educational excellence, organizational effectiveness, and supporting faculty and staff to pursue their own learning and professional growth, knowing that the surest way to improve learning is to improve teaching. Karen is genuine, kind, and knowledgeable. Karen has a BA in Child Development, a MA in Special Education: Gifted and an administrative credential. She and her husband have three grown children and recently returned to the area to be near their first grandchild. She loves hiking and enjoying nature, reading, cooking and time with family.

  • Lindsay Miller

    Tiny Tots & Twos Teacher

Lindsay's beginnings at St. Mark's were as a child in our preschool program. Now, an alumna, Lindsay and her family rejoined St. Mark's in 2021 and her son Belden comes to school with her everyday. Lindsay is a graduate of DePaul University and earned her Master's degree in Curriculum & Instruction with a focus in Early Child Education at Concordia University. Lindsay's teaching philosophy aligns seamlessly with St. Mark’s and understands the importance of nurturing the whole child in a play-based environment. She enjoys spending time with her family, visiting some of her favorite food spots in Chicago, & staying in Michigan by the lake with our close friends when we can.

  • Heather Taylor

Tiny Tots & Twos Assistant Teacher

Heather is a graduate of St. John Fisher College in Rochester, New York with 15 years of childcare experience. She is an enthusiastic, nurturing educator who is eager to contribute to St. Mark's mission of fostering an engaging and safe learning environment. With certification in early childhood and as a mother of three, Heather understands the importance of creating a nurturing environment where children feel safe, loved, and encouraged to explore, learn, and express themselves freely. Her teaching philosophy is centered around fostering a warm and supportive atmosphere where every child can thrive. Outside of school, Heather enjoys attending her children's athletic events, baking delicious treats, running to stay active, and diving into mystery thriller books.

  • Kathi Slatter

Kathi has been teaching at St. Mark's for 13+ years. She grew up in Park Ridge and attended Maine South High School. • Sara Morrell

Sara has been teaching at St. Mark's for four years, but her adventure here began as a parent and later as a substitute teacher. We just couldn't let her go! Sara has  BA in Marketing and Advertising from Columbia University, and an MA in Integrated Marketing Communications, so she is well-versed in helping to spread the good work we do at St. Mark's. She is well-qualified with early childhood certification from DCFS. Sara embraces the philosophy of St. Mark's as she supports children in their journey to learn, explore, and discover through play, music, art, and lots of movement!

Meg has a B.A. in Elementary Education from Michigan State University (GO GREEN!) and joined St. Mark's in 2020. Carol & her husband are empty nesters now and 'glamping' as much as possible!
